Shooting & Stabbing at Hyde Park & Holloway

I was coming down Holloway and as I approached Hyde Park all I could see was police cars, flashing lights and the whole street taped off. Right away what popped into my mind was that I hoped that none of "our people" had been hurt. I explained this to Eileen later and told her it was as if I was having the same feeling of a pastor pulling up to his church with all this going on. I parked and went over to an officer to see what had happened. I introduced myself to the female officer and asked her is anyone had been seriously injured. She answered "no". I was told on the street that someone had been shot 8 times then someone had stabbed the same person several times. I was also told that it was involving the Crips and the Bloods. I have not been able to find anything on the news but that doesn't surprise me because I knew of 3 different people that were shot on that same corner during the summer and it never made the news.
I waited a day to finish this hoping to have more details about what had happened yesterday. Again, I have heard of someone being killed and there is nothing on the news or in the newspaper. How can you block off a major street in the city then not report what happened? The pictures are the proof!!! The mayor just gave a report of crime being down which is to give the people what they want to hear. These kind of reports are trash when you are able to see and hear what is going on in the streets!!! People need to hear the truth and face the truth. We need to be doing more to reach the lost for JESUS!!! I will hit the streets today to get the information needed and to hopefully attend the funeral of this young man if that is indeed what happened.
Last night while leaving the Durham County Jail a guard had been warning people about the McDougal Terrace Projects. He said that there had been gang members wearing their colors and that there were going to be violence there as a result from what happened on Holloway. I dropped Eileen off at a meeting that she had then I headed to Holloway to see if I could get more information. Holloway was quiet so I headed for McDougal. McDougal was also very quiet so I stopped and shut off the van then just started praying for souls. Praying that these people would give their lives to JESUS!!! Praying that gang violence would come to an end. Praying that the Lord would give me favor in reaching the generals in these gangs. I strongly feel that if we can reach them then we can shut the gangs down. We continue to tell those that are locked up that we want them on our team. We want to disciple them and help them to have the life that JESUS wants for them and not the life that the enemy has got them trapped in.

Today is another day to be able to seek the lost. We will be right back out there doing what we can do to further the Kingdom and to make Durham truly a better place to live. God Bless!!
